Signs of Spring?
  • 3000 new bulbs, mainly crocuses, were planted by Wivenhoe in Bloom in the autumn, mainly in various stretches of greensward along the High st/the Avenue. If anyone sees them breaking through I'd love to a hear. It should be a great display before too long.
  • Ah, reassuring (but disappointing) to hear that the Bloom bulbs have yet to appear. It's a similar story in my back garden. This is my first attempt at green fingers - I couldn't have picked a worse winter to take up garden ownership.
  • 2 crocus flowers from a bulb at the base of a tree in Ernest Road .... yeah!
  • A bit of *ahem* side passage action for me. None of my planted bulbs have emerged as yet, but the previous occupants have left a nice little present for us, now poking through :)
  • Just another reminder that it's not too late to 'show us your bloomers'.  Wivenhoe Open Gardens on 21 and 22nd  May.  Half of the proceeds will go to St Mary's Church, and the Wivenhoe Society will donate their half to other Wivenhoe Charities  (yet to be decided).  No garden is too small....some of the most stunning participants in the past have been quite tiny.
