Resurfacing work....unfinished

Does anyone have any news about the resurfacing work? We were due to have East Street resurfaced on Tuesday, but only part of Black Buoy Hill was done.  The chip shop closed on Tuesday because of the works, which didn't then happen - doubt they were pleased.  I haven't had anything further through the letterbox about when its going to get done.  Maybe they ran out of tarmac....

  • You're best off calling CBC roads team. Number is on the internet.
  • All quite from our elected CBC and ECC councillors.
Full of mouth normally about what they've done

    Is Cyril still alive ?
  • Their contact details are also on the internet.

I seem to remember our ECC councilor parading the start of re-surfacing.
  • Do we know why Belle Vue was closed for two days? Not tarmac related?!

As received by WTC Office (the Roadworks link was added to the WTC website, but now the works are completed it is out of date).

"ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

Temporary Traffic Regulation Order of Belle Vue Road, Wivenhoe CP

Please click on the following link https://roadworks.org?tm=117695 to find details of the intended closure of Belle Vue Road, due to commence on 17th July 2017 for 5 days. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while National Grid Gas Distribution undertakes gas connection.

  • Ah hah! Thank you @WTCOffice ... better late than never on their part ;)
  • closure of Belle Vue Road, due to commence on 17th July 2017 for 5 days

    Thought August started
  • Thanks, I was hoping someone had some insightful knowledge (i.e. had chinwagged with the contractors!).  I've asked Essex Highways, and got a generic response with yet another link (https://roadworks.org/?90998899) which provides equally little information. Awesome.

Hazel, while the roads are the responsibility of ECC, if the speciation and standard is not what is expected by the residents, who should they complain to?
  • I've finally had a response from ECC, albeit from another faceless inbox (why people in Customer Services management think that sending emails without a real person's name is good service, I can never fathom).  Apparently a lot of the recent works have been delayed by the poor weather.  They are being reschedule for 30th Nov - 1st Dec (but of course, are subject to change).
  • Of course the weather will be beautiful at the end of November!
Hope they will use suitable sized equipment this time & include Brook Street & East Street & that part of Alma Street where cars were parked! If they kept to the dates the cars may have moved.

  • Sign up for the avenue to be closed for five days. I didn't catch the date though.
