The Shocking Truth About Money! A discusssion led by Tim Glover

The Greyhound, Thursday 6th July

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The Bankers own the Earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of a pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the fortunes like mine will disappear, and they ought to disappear, for this world would be a happier and better world to live in." Josiah Stamp, former Chairman of the Bank of England

In the modern economy, money is created by banks. I will describe how this works, explain the shocking implications, and discuss some possible alternatives.

  • This is on 6th July at  7.45pm. Somehow the forum has changed this to 6th July 7th and I can see how to edit it...

  • Thanks to Tim Glover for that enlightening event on the shocking truth about money. It got us thinking, talking about questioning money, it was a very valuable way to spend an evening, as you say, money itself has no real value.
I think there is great value in people getting together to exchange ideas on economics. I think we should investigate a economic models that would serve as a viable alternative to the current mess and that serves people.
  • Really sorry I wasn't there as I suspect my own experience is similar to what Tim presented.

Money has become a distraction from the real economic issue: efficiency and sustainability of resource.

I am up for a discussion or series of discussions.
  • Sounds interesting; would anyone care to summarise what was said?

I suspect this will give you an idea of what was revealed. It may seem fanciful but stick with it and reason it through.
