Colne Radio FM Broadcasting: 8 April

We are incredibly proud to announce that Colne Radio will become an FM station for NE Essex on 8 April, 2017. This follows some pretty vigorous testing with Ofcom over recent weeks. The regulator is satisfied that Colne Radio has met the tech and policy requirements to go FM.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported Colne Radio during our successful crowd funder last summer. The station will soon be able to publish more information about the launch, as well as revealing our dedicated FM frequency :)

  • Many congratulations to all concerned.

Looking forward to seeing how it develops.
  • We can now confirm that 106.6 will be the FM frequency for Colne Radio as from 8th April. You will still be able to listen to the station online. Plans are underway for a major celebration ahead of the big TURN ON in a couple of months :)

  • What a great wavelength.
Did Colne Radio choose it or was it allocated?
  • @kst it was allocated to us.

We're searching around now for suitable straplines. Any suggestions gratefully received. Puns on 1066 and all that have already been dismissed ;)
  • Are you going to have a Traffic Announcement flag?

We're looking for suggestions for the first song to be played on 106.6 FM on April 8. Contributions please via Twitter, the FB page or comments on the Colne Radio site.

Disclaimers, blah blah blah: no twaddle.

  • Test transmissions have now started on the 106.6 FM frequency. This is to make sure that everything is perfect ahead of the 8 April launch. Some pre-records are currently playing on the FM transmitter. You can still listen to Colne Radio live on the website.

There is an official 5km radius from the central Wivenhoe location. We'd be interested to know how far out the signal may reach. Please do let us know...

  • Today's the big day (2pm), good luck to all concerned.

Rather hoping that they don't go with Radio Ga-Ga as the first song though!

    :)
  • Proud Mary, surely?
  • Good luck to everyone involved, great to have got to this point!
  • Looking forward to it!

    Thanks.
