Wivenhoe Tree Warden

Wivenhoe Watching Wildlife has been approached by the Town Council to see if there is anyone who has the time and interest to become a Tree Warden for Wivenhoe, to keep an eye on our precious trees. If there is anyone out there who would like to consider taking on such a role, either alone or as part of a team, please contact WTC on wivenhoe_council@btconnect.com and I am sure they will be able to give you more details.

  • A Wivenhoe Tree Warden sounds a good idea as there are many around here who delight in having the tree feller in to 'tidy the place up'. Our neighbour recently had them in. There was one of ours that that did encroach on their garden and they asked us if it would be alright to cut it down. We agreed. Then they said that there was another of ours close by  that didn't encroach  in any major way but they offered to have it felled  at the same time. We said no. Their person stepped across the  fence and sawed it off at low level as seen in the attached shot which shows the fence. There is nothing that one can do afterwards. And no, we weren't in at the time.
  • Are you sure Brian?  What about trespass and criminal damage/vandalism?  Ask Cyril Liddy if you have a case...?
