Much Ado about Nothing - The Musical
  • This a great new show at the Lakeside Theatre at 7.30pm on April 12, 13 and 14 with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. It's based on Shakespeare's play Much Ado about Nothing but has been rewritten and abridged by local teacher Gary Stevens. The plot may be the same but the language is simplified and William didn't think to put songs by Elvis, Cliff and The Beatles in his original version! This one is packed with musical numbers and with Angie Diggens in charge of music, the standard is high.

There are lots of well known local faces in the cast and it promises to be a good show. Tickets are on sale by calling 573948 or on the door. Tickets £10, concessions £8 or a bargain Family ticket for just £20 (2 adults + 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children) This could be a great opportunity to introduce children to Shakespeare in a lighthearted, fun show.

  • What a wonderful show with a tremendous opening night. Mixing traditional Shakespeare with the Musical genre really shouldn't work. The predominantly Wivenhoe cast pulled this off however - the songs actually add to the dialogue. It was great to see the local kids from ADP Theatre on the big stage at The Lakeside.

Some tickets are still available for the weekend.

Looking forward to Fawlty in July...
